Vincent Pocsik is an American artist based in L.A. He is a well-rounded artist who are versed and intrigued by many sides of design. Not only is he well trained in traditional design methods, his skills and design methods are deeply rooted in the digital representation and fabrication of his creations, which he believes to be very important to the current world of architecture and the future of it. Pocsik’s creations are shaped by his desires to push the boundaries of traditional mediums such as wood, glass, and metal to transform them into artworks with ann anatomical expression and have presences of their own.
Poscik is not satisfied of only making beautiful artworks, but he wants his works to be provocative, grotesque, and take on a life of their own. Poscik draws his inspiration from his juxtaposed life between the city and nature. Getting out of the city once in a while to encounter people and experience different lifestyles help him to collect different ideas for textures and forms. Whenever he needs ideas during the course of art creating, they just all naturally come out.
PASITHEA - Laminated and carved solid black walnut and maple created using a technique the artist has developed in his studio which is a combination of digital fabrication and hand carving. The finish is created through layering of paint and burning. The finish is more an act of painting where mistakes are welcomed, then it is of a desired finished product.
