J McDonald

J McDonald’s otherworldly furniture and sculpture challenges and illuminates our contemporary relationship with the natural and built environments.

Fascinated by the tensions and between humanity and the natural world, as well as between our logical and intuitive minds, his work brings the dominant rectilinearity and clean minimalism of human rationalism against the chaotic, organic, and intuitive forces that lie, often dormant, deep within us.

Working in the space between art and architecture, between sculpture and furniture, his work incorporates ideas around nature, space, tactility, intuition, and the human condition to inspire unique constructions that examine and redefine our perception and experience of the world, ourselves, and the relationship between the two.
